Been trying to instal a few older games that used to work on my old laptop (it had XP home) on my desktop. and i keep getting the following message
Application: ISSET_SE said:
The Win 16 Subsystem has insufficient resources to continue running.

Desktop is listed below and running XP Pro (shouldn't matter but it is a Legit copy)

Any idea's? they are simple games
NFS II
NFS III Hot Pursuit
Sim City 3000 Unlimited

Thanks for looking
Joe

run them in windows 95 compatability mode

Yes, try running in compatibility mode.

- right click the games executable (shortcut)
- click on properties.
- click the compatibility tab
- put a checkmark beside "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"
- choose Windows 98/Windows Me
- click "apply" then "OK"

Try running the game.

Just tried that on the cd and its saying the game files are corrupt, its not even letting me install the game to the hdd.

any thoughts on that?
Thanks guys
Joe

Edit, i think it may be going will post back later with the results

When you install a game in compatibility mode, you create a shortcut to the install from the CD to your desktop. You then do the steps suggested already on the install .exe

Ok, i haven't tried anyone aside from NFS III. got it installed and to load/play. but its severely slow/choppy when it plays. the 3 second "go" count takes about 6-7 to complete its like im trying to run it on a PC thats to slow to handle it. it dose this no mater what the graphic settings are at in the game.

i tried 95 and 98 compatibility and it didn't make a difference.

im going to try the SimCity one and see how that works out.

i noted that NFS III called for DX5, just how backwards compatible is DX and would that even matter?

Anyways thanks so fay guys
Joe

isn't nfs III back in the 3dfx days?

i don't know what to tell you about choppy framerates

dx should be 100% backward compatable.
