i am planning to upgrade to a new monitor widescreen monitor, and i was woundering, ive heard that widescreens distort older games images, and all i need to know is that does anyone know first hand if a monitor would distort origanal CS and HL, because they are the oldest games i own. I also play HL2, Cs:S, F.E.A.R, DooM 3, and Titan Quest, but I am assumeing that these games will support the new monitor, becuase they are newer. so would you guys reccomend the widescreen monitor, or just stick to the 19" not widescreen?
 
I wouldn't go with a widescreen monitor simply because not all games support it. Even if they've been released last year or this year they might not support widescreen resolutions.
 
Wide screen's are fine and dandy, but as mrjack said, very few games support it yet. Plus, how much do you plan to use this computer for the internet and what not? Web sites are typically set for 1024x768, or just not wide screen. So, many won't display correctly.
 
I believe that some monitors can be set for the standard 4:3 ratio when doing certain applications, but then you'll have the big black bars on the sides, and I'm not totally sure how good it is, or how many are available...
