Game performance and OS

I have a couple of questions. Why is DX10.1 better on Vista? When I tried to play Oblivion in VISTA on the graphic I usually play on in XP it lagged going to 10-15 fps instead of like around 30, why? Is it better to play games on XP or VISTA? Do desktop effects have any effect on when your inside a game?

Well it could be a couple things. You might to update your video drivers or you might need to upgrade your hardware. I would venture to say it's your hardware is probably becoming outdated.

no I could play the game on max on XP but on vista I could barely play on medium anyways is there any down side to playing games on vista
