Does anyone have an explination for this? I love to play the sims rite. when i built my first computer i built to play the sims, well past the requirements, i had a 128 ati 9200se agp and a p4 2.4ghz. i just got a ati x850 pro and a p4 3.0ghz and all the other games, battlefield, gta:SA etc. run excellent on like ultra high and stuff but the sims is still a little shoty, better than before but it still lags more than a little bit.

You may have to reconfigure game settings themselves with everything else lrunning good due to the newer hardwares. Generally these are only minor problems seen when upgrading. Besides different device drivers now being loaded along with Windows another program if not the newer version of the Catalyst Control Center could be another reason for seeing this. When there are issues with games from that the older updates offered the Control Panel as a sub for the Catalyst. That was last seen on the 5.11 update. Or the option to go with just the basic drivers could see improvement there. Trying different settings in the game would be the first thing to try however.

THe problem is probably with the game, cause I sometimes lag in Sims too, and my rig is wayy over its requirements.

oh btw, its supposed to be GB not Ghz for Ram in your sig ;)

Intel Pentium 4 3.0Ghz (Socket 478 1MB L2 Cache) is correct for a cpu. The sig shows 512mb for ram. Often when you swapout hardwares and then run older games, programs you will find a noticable difference. The Sims was more likely designed for the older hardwares/drivers where now you may have to adjust the sound and video acceleration to see if that sees it run any smoother. For video go to the advanced display settings into the troubleshooting section to lower the graphics down a notch or two. For sound you type dxdiag at the Run prompt to open that screen. Then go over to the sound section and lower the slide bar. You probably will have to this for Sims alone and later raise one or both back up.
