Game problems.

Yeah now i don't know that much about computers see...
Ok, i've got this problem where whenever i go into a game, my computer screws up royally. Basically i can get into the game menus and such, but when i actually go into a level or something, the game crashes and displays a windows error message. The message is the kind of thing that let's you send an error report if you wish.

Any thoughts on what could be causing this, as it happens with almost every game and is very annoying to say the least?

The system i'm running is as follows;

AMD Athlon 64 3200
1.5gb DDR 400 3200mhz RAM
ATI Radeon 9600 256mb
Gigabyte K8NS Pro AGP8X/DDR400 Motherboard
Windows XP sp2

is this the display message

and you could always try following the help and support menu located in the start menu to see if you can find a solution there.

That's the message i get. The same thing comes up with nearly all games.
