Game server hardware limit.

Hello my name is Hermann, i am from norway.
I am the admin at http://norskgaming.com.
We do have some servers at gameservers.com but this gets a bit exspensive.
So we have got an offer on a Vps with the following specifications:

Server: Dell PE 860

CPU:1x Intel Dual Core Xeon 3050

RAM:4GB DDR2

Harddisk:2x500GB SATA2

For Monthly total €30,00
Is this a good deal?

Is this server gonna take 2 minecraft servers+ 3 or 2 counter strike source server's? and one teamspeak server?
The server are never full almost 2-3 players normaly.

I am a professional game server provider, so this is slightly biased

It's generally not recommended to host game servers on VPS, it may seem cheaper, but there are lots of reasons against it.

Game Server providers generally use 'better' bandwidth and networking than normal providers, They spend more money but get higher grade bandwidth (less hops, better providers) this is why you see them advertise 'low ping' networks in comparison to the sort of bandwidth that is 'fine' for websites.

Based on your site you run CS:S, You should know that it is VERY scheduler dependent, especially the new orange box. It runs 66.67 times per second, if one of those (or many) don't happen at exactly the right milisecond 'reg' and physics can be slightly off leading to worse play.
The downside to a VPS is you have no guarantee that what you are running isn't going to conflict with what someone else is running and won't be scheduled at the exact milisecond its needed, and this is what often happens.
And all vps have a network overhead due to having 'virtual' NICS.

For minecraft it's generally ok if the machine is from a quality supplier. For minecraft, cpu isn't really important but it does use a lot of random disk access.

But now we are planning a dedicated server in norway whit 16 gb ram and xneon cpu+ 10 gigabitt network.

You may be better off getting a dedicated server. It's true what another member said about bandwidth problem for VPS on gameserver usually providers don't get premium good bandwidth for VPS but the get stable bandwidth for servers / sites.

I've been in the hosting industry for years now trust us don't go with a VPS account for gameservers expecially a counter strike source gs. You can def. Run a minecraft server on a VPS like that.
