games crashing

i play C&C 3, L4D and NFS undercover, all at max, but recently, games have been crashing. there would either be an error saying that the game has encounter an error and must end or the game would just exit by itself. i've tried lowering the settings but the problem still persist. please help. my specs are:
C2Q 6600
Asus 9600gt
2gb RAM
Win XP SP2/ Vista ultimate SP1

try and bring down graphics on the game and in settings for you computer graphics

like i said, i've already tried lowering the settings. i just did some test with FRAPS. for L4D i get 60-70 fps for most part of the game on max settings, only get down to about 40 when the horde is attacking. i've the latest graphic driver. so i dont suppose its a graphic related problem.

He means your graphics card (If you have one) is over heating, shutting down all things that need alot of graphics to run

anyway i can check the temperature of the card while game is running?

Rivatuner will tell you the temp of the card, you could always Alt + TAB out the game to take a look.

It shows a graph though, so you could quit the game and still be able to see how much it's changed.
