Is there any reason why that ones cheaper? Does it have less features?

P45 is a later chipset. It does has less feature. It doesn't have Wifi, but you can just buy a wireless card seperately anyway. And the heatsink is less than the one you choose. However, it support PCI-E x 16 2.0 graphic card

Does it matter that the motherboard supports CrossFire and not SLi?

I think you better stick to ATI 4850. It is better than 9600GT.

Are you going to run SLi/ Crossfire Set-up? If you do, you choose the wrong motherbaord.
If you want to run Crossfire, you need to choose X48/ X38 chipset. They are the one which run Crossfire at full speed.
Similarly, if you want to run SLi. Go for 780i chipset.
IMO, If you just run single video card, I think you can get a cheaper Motherboard like MSI P45 Neo3-FR/ Asus P5Q/ Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS3L, which don't support crossfire

yes the 4850 is better than the 8800gt but it all matters on what your wanting to spend. the 4850 is probably the best in the 150$ price zone
