Gaming Computer Help!!

Hey guys, 1st time poster and I need help building a gaming rig. I'm willing to spend up to $1500 but less is always better, and I want to be able to play games like BF3 and Skyrim on high settings. I have a rudimentary knowledge of computer specs, what's good, what's bad, etc., but I know if I try to do it myself I'll mess something up. I need everything short of a mouse, keyboard, and headset, and here's what I've got so far:

Case: COOLER MASTER Elite 430 RC-430-KWN1

CPU: Intel Core i5-2500K Sandy Bridge 3.3GHz (3.7GHz Turbo Boost) 4 x 256KB L2 Cache 6MB L3 Cache LGA 1155 95W

GPU: EVGA 01G-P3-1561-AR GeForce GTX 560 Ti FPB (Fermi) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card

RAM: CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9R

HDD: Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 ST3500413AS 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache

PSU: CORSAIR CMPSU-750TX 750W ATX12V v2.2 SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Compatible with Core i7 Power Supply

So obviously I need a mobo, optical drive, and OS, but any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated. Just stuff to cut corners money-wise, or if I made a bad choice of a part, anything like that. And I plan on getting some 120mm case fans because the case only has one, and a different CPU cooler because apparently the stock one sucks.

Thanks very much man, I have no understanding of motherboards, so that was a big help. But overall, forum dwellers, would you say this build is money efficient, inefficient, overkill, etc.?

i'm looking now, if you can go to 1500 then why spend that little, i'm not gunna go all the way but i'm gunna put together a beast for ya.

Cool thanks, I don't have a strict spending limit or anything, I make like 1k a month at my job and I don't have anything to pay for currently, so it's really how long I'd be willing to wait to save. Also I don't need some $2500-3000 behemoth, I don't do video editing or anything, I just want to have a solid gaming rig that will be good for the next couple years and at least decent for a few more.

that's one of the fastest gpus, and is the fastest single core gpu, but it can be brought down to the 570 and still be able to max any game out today and for a while, but it was in a combo. and that psu can come down too if you want cuz that one i picked cuz it's modular (cables can be unplugged from the psu) and gold certified, and can easily power 2 580's. and the only thing left to make it better would be a ssd, but that is unneeded.

and does the post above mean you are going to be buying like next month or something cuz by then there will be different deals and possibly new things out.

That's a sexy build right there, I'll definitely consider it. I'd like to buy in about a month to a month and a half, by then I should have about $1500-$1800. The CPU/GPU combo is really nice, but do I really need the 580? I'm no expert but I've read that the main difference between them and 560 Ti's is in it's hyper-threading capabilites, which apparently aren't too important in gaming, more so in video editing.

Also I'd eventually like to get two GPU's, not sure how that works, but if I have two the 560 Ti's should be fine, right?

you have been misinformed. GPUs have never had hyperthreading. That is a Intel CPU technology. The difference in the 580 and the 560ti is core count and memory amount. The 580 has 512 cores and 1.5GB, while the 560ti is 192 and 1GB if memory serves.

Gaming, the more cores the better on the GPU. The 580 is a mean, green game killing machine. A single 580 will blow 2 GTX560ti's out of the water, and not have microshutter,

Ok, you all seem to be ****ing awesome at building computers, so I'll trust you on the 580. With that wishlist, the HDD and the combo, comes out to 1,431, plus shipping bullshit and tax. Probably around 1500-1600ish. Nice.

actually unless you're in Tennessee/New Jersey/California there is no tax, and most of those have free or cheap shipping. and if you don't mind the extra this will give you boot times faster than you'd ever imagine

and also i almost forgot that i think there's like 35 in mail in rebates in that wishlist too.

Sort of unfortunately, I live in California. But it has its ups.
Also, is getting an SSD something I'd have to do before putting the computer together, or can I reinstall the OS on the SSD when and if I get one? Or something like that, I'm bad at computers lol.

you can reinstall the os on it later, but i think you'll have to reinstall programs too cuz they would be linked to the directories and all, idk about that part.

Whatever, that's not that bad, I'm just going to have games and I can just backup my music.
