Gaming computer.

First off, it is a good idea to look at the sticky to get an idea of what you should get based on what you want. But, I actually recently priced out some options for someone. This came out to just over $1400 if you get the more expensive options, and one other upgrade you might want to consider is a slightly more power chip, that has a newer core as well. This also does not include monitor, mouse, etc., just the tower and speakers...

Criticize away, as I'm is going to happen :). But these are some of the options that I found. Many of these items are also highly recommended by at least 100+ buyers as well.

Nice start, although i'd strongly recommend a Dual Core CPU, an X2 3800+ or 4200+ would easily fit into budget. Given that he's got $2k to play with, an upgraded graphics card, like an X1900XT would also be a good idea.

ya i agree...for 2000 bucks u could get a real nice CPU, much better than the 3700..id get dual if i had that kind of money ;) ...other than that and the Video Card ceewi recommended, id say itl be a great system:D

In Praetor's sticky, the $1700 one had an X2 4400+ and an X1900XT. So this computer should be able to off atleast a 7900GTX.

Over in the UK, we've got Chillblast, where you can buy your top of the range parts to build yourself, or pay an extra £80 for them to put it all together and install the operating system. If you're not in the UK, maybe there's a website that works in the same way?

Edit: DUH, dollars, of COURSE you're not in the friggin uk

Your best choice would be to come up with a list of specs, and have it built, either from a website or by a local computer store. They'll do it for a reasonable fee, and you'll get a much better computer than you would if you were buying a prebuilt from Dell, HP, etc...
