Look into intel Core2 processors. They typically are faster and cheaper than current AMD processors. Plus something like a single 8800GTS would be much, MUCH faster, probably cheaper, and probably more reliable. I hear some games don't work too well with multi GPUs.

So, you're saying that dual 8800s are not as good as the one? I can handkle that... but I thought AMD was better for gaming than Intel was. I just really want a computer that won't go "old" in a couple years and will still push the latest games. Thanks for the replies!

If you don't want it to get old look into the C2D processors as The_Other_One Said, maybe even consider a quad core if your only into AMD

No, he said that ONE 8800GTS would be better than 2 x1650's by far!!! Secondly, AMD used to be better for gaming. But not any more, since the C2D's release, Intel have had the shackles around AMD's X2 series and i can't see them letting go just yet.;)

I'm still debating the XP 3 pack or just a Vista rig. I know that my dad wants to build a computer and that will save him on the OS Software plus mine and then we will have a backup when one goes all screwy. I will go back and revise my build... I can't get anything right now (Father's Day coming up and mom's birthday) plus I have to save. I then want to try and keep it down to $1000-$1500 for it.

Thanks for the input guys, any extra help in the way of this build would be nice. I know I said I want it to be good for a couple years but my budget is shrinking. I will keep an eye on these forums and when I get all my money together I will let you guys know. Thanks again :D !

hard to tell which evga mb tiger direct is selling (nf68-a1? nf67-t1? nf66-t1?), but if you buy at newegg.com you might save some $

newegg.com:

retail evga mb: $230 after rebate
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813188013

oem gts:$349 after rebate
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130071
------------
Total $579
==========
You save $30 !

But I'd personally go for a Gigabyte mb. evga may have lifetime warranty.. but who uses 1 mb their whole life? meh.

P.S. me no like tiger direct. newegg.com much better!
