Gaming graphics 1791 MB Total available graphics memory 5.5
Primary hard disk 310GB Free (335GB Total) 5.9

How many prcesses do you have running normally and at startup?

When I start up, besides the essintial needed for my computer to turn on, all I have after that to laod at startup is msn and nortons.

I havent moved to Vista yet, but I will next week, so it will be interesting to see how much I can cut down on.

with vista you seem to run mroe programs but all i got startign up is AVG, ATI CCC, Thunder Bird Tray. after its all loaded my memory usage is around 28%. theres really nothin i can do by adding ram as vista 32 bit maxes out at 3.25gb so not gonan go that route as im already at 3gb.

its not the graphics memory, its the speed of your card. you need a better one, its just the weakest part of your rig. like my computer, the processor scores 5.5 and everything else scores 5.9

the speed of my card is clocked right now at 850gpu and 1450 mem. which is decent speeds. its a 512 at 23gb bandwidth

It's not always how much you overclock your card. I upgraded from an 8600GT with a GPU clock of 640Mhz to an overclocked 8800GT with a GPU clock of 700MHz. Seriously the difference doesn't seem like 60MHz. The 8800GT performs at least twice as fast as my old card. It's also the bit-interface of the card. I went from a 128-bit card with 256MB RAM to a 256-bit card with 512MB RAM. And 5.5 is not that bad, but if you want a higher score, you need a better card.

yea, clockspeed matters but not as much as pure processing power. graphics processors are different than regular ones. the architecture matters too.

and as a side note, my HD 4850 scored 5.9 on the vista test if you'd like to try that card out. plays all my games on highest settings so w/e that's all i care about lol

I wouldn't trust that Vista experience thing though. I mean you can use it to determine what your bottleneck is . . . maybe. But if you overclock your video card I don't think it updates your Vista rating. I'm pretty sure as far as the Vista rating goes is just the physical card you have. An 8600GT at 540MHz scores the same as an 8600GT at 640MHz.

thats because its not a precise judgement of your computers performance, more of a general judgement. that means that it places certain performance levels in the same performance bracket.

overclocking my 4850 increases my fps, and 3dmark06 score.. but it stayed at 5.9 score in windows vista.
