So in 2009 and I bought this Gateway DX4300-15e. It came with an integrated graphics card. It was never top of the line or anything like that, but it got the job done. But with new games coming out requiring more, and more - I decided to go out and buy a new graphics card. This desktop has a low-wattage power supply, so I think I stayed within the realm of not pushing the power supply too much.
My Problem: Prior to buying the card, I noticed there were a few games I couldn't even run...the high-end games. Games like Just Cause 2, Far Cry 3, Dishonored, etc. There were games I COULD run, and run them decently... low-mid settings. Games like Spore, or Minecraft, or The Sims 3.
After purchasing the card, I noticed I can run the higher end games...but they all run the same way - choppy. It's a repetitive lag that just keeps on throughout my gameplay, and it will get a bit better at minimum settings, or low resolution, but it still stays. canirunit says I can play all of these games with the recommended settings, but I can't.
Why?
My specs
Gateway DX4300 - 15e
OS - Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.
Processor - AMD Phenom II X4 810 Processor (4 CPUs) ~ 2.6GHz
Memory - 8192MB RAM
Graphics Card - NVIDIA GeForce GT620 (The previous integrated is a Radeon HD3200.)
Power Supply - 300 Watt
DirectX - 11
Are those enough specs to indicate a problem? Is my processor not fast enough to keep up? Am I running my computer too hard with the graphics card? Is my computer just not as good as I think to run these games? I played Spore after I put in the graphics card, and it feels like it runs about the same. I'm not noticing much of an improvement.
Thanks guys,
Chad
