As far as i know the following can run...,Far cry 2,,COD4 and i assume cod5 will be able too aswell because cod4 does.(But he does mention punkbuster servers wont work)But thats not a problem because you can play on non PB servers :)

I also read somewhere that someone got steam running Left 4 dead in linux too.

Well, I've tried it and couldn't get Warcraft III to look right, it was full of artifacts and performance was terrible. But again, I had never used Linux, I just don't know anything about it. Except "Use Wine" lol

I hear nVidia video cards are a lot easier to install than ATi, they tend to require a lot more work to configure properly.

mehhh it's still pretty hard to get it functioning alright. Make it a dualboot and you can experiment with it. But it'll sure be a fun project to learn about linux. Which distro are you planning?

Well i would like to learn how to use diffrent operating systems,Linux is tempting....but osx is even more :D

But i dont have a maccy so it will have to be linux,I was thinking Ubuntu x64 ,the latest version. :)

Ubuntu is an excellent distro to learn linux on, much easier to use than the more involved distros such as slackware and gentoo.

Yeah Ubuntu also seems to have quite a supportive community as well.

I gave Opensuse x64 a shot some time back, that was quite good too.

I've tried over a hundred different Linux Distros and I have used wine quite alot and well its not as good as you think it is. I mean linux is freaking amazing and Ubuntu 9.04 is amazing so is Elive. and Well go to www.distrowatch.com to look at all the different linux distros. They have a linux distro (full OS) that is a total of 14MB omfg lol. Havn't tried it but thinking about it. I think it requires like 16MB of ram to run lol.

Well anyway back to wine. Wine takes some time to get used to and it makes the microsoft programs think there running in windows. Some programs work some don't. I got cod4 to run no problem except it would not connect online. So its all trial and error. Some games and such require modification to wine or the linux distro so look online before installing a certain app or game in wine.

Also with linux when you install it, it finds all your drivers for you! I've never had a problem with a driver on wine and I've actually found out that ati works better then nvidia from my experience. Like I just pluged in my printer and it recognized it and let me print. Never had to install a driver. Just some information to let you no about.

Remember Microsoft gives you a window and Linux gives you a whole house!!!!!
