Gaming monitor suggestions

I'm looking for a new monitor for gaming. I was thinking 23 or 24 inches but I'm open to suggestions. I'd like to keep it $200-300 but if people don't think that's reasonable I can spend a bit more.
My new rig has a HD 5850 card so I want something that won't waste its power.

Not interested in tv and wont be watching movies on it.
