Gaming Monitor

I was wondering if I would be able to use this HDTV as a gaming monitor with an 8800ultra?

Thanks.

I don't see why not, however to enjoy viewing it you would have to sit a good deal away from it. If you will use it as a t.v. as well I would say yes but solely as a monitor, that would be a waste. I have a 37 inch LCD I play movies on, my card has component out and I get amazing picture quality from it, if you plan to do this as well I would say go for it.

IMO though, the largest gaming monitor I would get is 24 inches. I have tried to play on my 37 inch and I just prefer to be closer to the screen, if that make sense.

Well right now, I have a 42'' version of that TV. I sit about 5 feet away. I use it for my monitor, watching movies (from dvd or pc), ps2, and xbox, and soon an xbox360.
So basically, either the 42 or 52 would become the main pc monitor and the other one would become like the movie/console tv. I do have cable tv hooked up to this TV but I never watch it.

What I would do is buy a good gaming monitor and place it on your coffee table closer and than use the larger tv for watching movies and doing whatever..

But I am a cheap bastard...

:-P

Anything less than 42" seems to small anymore. Unless I got like a dual 24" monitors but meh. Anybody else got any input?

Thats kind of what I am saying..

If you just want something huge to show off than get the largest you can afford..

Show off? You don't seem to understand that I like having LARGE monitors. I just want something bigger and nicer. I was originall looking at getting another 42" but realized I could get a 52" for the same price so I'm opting for the larger.

You guys want him to buy a separate LCD just for gaming? Lol, just because you would prefer it doesn't mean he will (like he just said), anyways that TV is badass.. Gaming on that would be a privilege.

*BTW I really like your TV XD*

Thanks. Also, I'm glad you realize my preferences.

Get a DLP rear projection.

10,000:1 contrast and 1080P 60"+ for under $2k.

DLP's are like really bulky no? And would they have a fast enough response time? That lcd is 4ms. I don't want a bulky TV that is like size of a CRT even though it might be badass. I'm am looking and not findy any 60+ DLP's for under 2k that are 1080p. Can you link?

I think I drank a 12 pack. Standard.

And as for refresh rate, just by virtue of the fact that a dlp uses ONE micromirror device to create all 3 colors, the ABSOLUTE minimum refresh rate for a dlp monitor is 180hz, and most current generation dlp sets are as high as 8x colorwheel speed, so somewhere in the range of 1500 refreshes per second.

I am pretty impressed. I watched that video. Except it was retarded when the guy was like talking about using VGA from pc to the TV. I was like Idiot. I'm still not sure DLP is quite for me. I was looking forward to wall-mounting which would be out of the question with a dlp. Hmm. Do I want to sacrafice overall size for screen size? I don't know.

If you like large monitors you'll just love my 15' CRT display at an 800x600 resolution with 60 hertz refresh rate!!

No I'm serious I actually use that as my monitor and the resolution. It also makes this loud pinging noise sometimes, that my parents can't hear. No joke.
