Gaming Network Router

I’m setting up a new network in my home to be used mostly for gaming on my cable internet. First question, if I were to get a wireless router, would the Ethernet ports out the back be any slower then a wired router. Reason I’m asking is because I wont be using the wireless function right away but I like the option to upgrade later but also don’t want to lose any speed.

Second question, what are some good router options for speed and ease of use because I am new to networking. I was looking at the D-link DGL-4300. I do not want to pay much more then $150 for a router. Thanks a lot guys!

wireless ethernet typically 11 / 54 mbps

"cabled" ethenet tpyically 10 / 100 mbps

they will never however run quite as quick as that constantly

make sure your router is 802.11g (Wirelesss 54mbps)

most routers are fast ethernet 802.3u & have switch / hub built in.
