Does anyone no of an OS for gaming consoles that is open source?

is there any operating system or useful software for ps1 because i'm thinking of digging my old ps1 out of the garage.

Just curious,

How do you hook up a PS1 to the computer to load anything on to it? Not to mention, wouldnt have to be a very small OS?
