looks pretty solid. but, if the moneys in the budget a ssd would be nice to put your OS on. but other than that im not really much of a help to you :P good luck.

For gaming the 2500K is a better choice. Costs less, performs the same. Change the HDD out for a Samsung F3 1TB

If you have the money and want to spend it, definitely go with intel. And linkin, the 2600k does perform better than the 2500k, but not that much and doesn't justify the extra cash, which I agree, the 2500k is better for those on a budget. And I do like the Black WD better than the F3s, but they are more expensive. Once again, if you have the cash, go for it.

I would go for a different Motherboard, also. Like this one:

Z68, and it can support RAM up to 2133, so it'll help improve performance. Here's some nice fast RAM:

thanks for the replies you guys! i really appreciate it.. you guys are whole lot different the folks in car forums where they bash on you for nothing...

I was also considering AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Black Edition..
Is 6-core even worth it or is it too early because not much programs are supporting it?

Also, is gtx 580 a good choice or is there an another one thats more bang for my buck?

thank you!

A 580 is a very powerful card, but for around $200-300, you could get a ATI 6950 2 GB. It will still play all games at full settings, but just won't be as future proof. And the i5 still performs better than the 6-core AMD.

Am i really the only one noticing he has a lga 1366 mobo with an i7-2600k, wow people, just wow, linkin i thought you were better than that, guess i don't know you as well as i thought i did, considering i have no knowledge of you other than you are a veteran of this sight, but you should know this stuff, it's one of the basics.. and i'd go 1600mhz ram for 10 more, other than that it looks good, but i7 is overkill and i'd click on buy the i5-2500k, then go down a little and there'll be combos to look at to save mor so yeah.
