gaming routers

Hi i just bought a ps vita and need to know what wireless router to use so i can play online without lag and stable connection? does anyone know if the vita utilizes dual band or not? i use broadband otherwise through my desktop so this router is soley for the vita... ive rang sony several times and they have no clue... im thinking either the tp link wr1043nd or the asus rt-n15u, im guessing the asus is better being dual band and all but am i wasting my money getting it?

please someone help asap as sony cant...

im open to any other router suggestions

There's really nothing special about a gaming router, other than a QoS priority. The majority of lag comes from the type of internet you have through your ISP, and if anyone else on your network is downloading/streaming.
 
Gaming router is pretty useless. I have pretty slow internet and my ping on speed test is normally in the 30's - 40's. Even when I'm downloading something it still works fine for gaming. I'm using like a 5 year old modem supplied by AT&T and it does fine for my excessive FPS playing. My router on the other hand is meh and disconnects about once a week, but that's unrelated.

Edit: Sorry my post is screwy. I was not paying attention. I was talking about a modem. My point still stands though, gaming routers are not necessary. Basic router will be fine as long as it's stable and has the range you need.

i need one tho for the vita, all other online gaming will be done through my broadband, its purely for playstation vita, without a wireless connection you cant do anything eg play online or download games

screw dual band?

We're saying that you don't need a gaming router, any wireless router/access point will be fine.

If you really want the fastest possible connection for gaming, you can risk just hard wiring your PC directly to your modem and that will open all ports (since I dont think most ISP modems have ports anyway).

Or, you could always pick up a Motorola SBG6850 modem that has a built in router and wifi, and as far as Im concerned its one of the better modems available. I just got one from Time Warner after upgrading my internet to the 50mbps option, which is the fastest available connection in my area until Google expands its way to me and then I will be switching over to them. It really sucks its only available in limited areas in north KC and I live about 30 minutes outside of that area....

Im currently running that modem, paired with a linksys EA4500 N900 modem and I have no gaming lag. Even with my fair connection of my PC (which is wireless).
 
when gaming if possible use an Ethernet port, but it really dose depend on the internet actually provided, (the service you have) and what other users are doing on the network, downloading/ streaming
