Garbled Mobo screen

Everytime i boot up my computer everything looks fine except the screen that shows the MSI and Core Cell logo for the motherboard. Its all mutli colored and garbled badly. My buddy at work tells me it could be a sign of hardware issues with mobo... Is this true?
 
First off, onboard or offboard video? If possible swap out the video card or try another one and see what happens. Any games ever act up? Have you tried to flash the bios?
 
If you are using the onboard video on a new board make sure the correct drivers are installed for that model. Besides updating the bios try reseating the video card if not using the onboard. The first item to usually look at however is the bios setting for the type of video or video card being used. An AGP or PCI-Express card won't run good if the pci slot or onboard video choice is selected there.
