Does anyone know about the backup and recovery discs I need to do for Gateway? I've only had the computer since Sat. and am having a difficult time navigating Windows 7 after XP. I think I like it but it's not like XP at all. I had a minidump tonite and can't find out what the problem is so I'm not sure if I should make a backup now or when I figure the problem out. If all it back ups is Gateway's stuff then I guess I'm good to go. But Gateway wants me to use 4 DVDs. I wanted to use my external hard drive for both Gateway's backup and Windows backup that they want me to do. In the main screen it doesn't give me a place to put in a external hard drive. Is there a way around that so I can use it or do I have to use the 4 DVDs?

Also, in my notification area I have a "Solve PC Issues". They indicated I needed to have an online antivirus software (I have Norton so why couldn't they find it?). Another one is backup but I don't want to do the Windows Backup until I find out what the minidump says. Problem with that is I can't get into it. Can I ignore the backup message for now?

The gateway restore system is tere to make a restore disk for your computer. These will reset your computer to the out of teh box state.
Windows backup, only saves your data. This is to recover your system in teh event of a reset as listed above.

I would suggest that you use both of the above methods. if you just got the computer (assuming its new), go ahead and burn the reset disk. It may come down to using it if there is no other way to stop the miniidumps.
