I need some advice. This is for my stepmother. She doesn't play videogames or run large business programs.

First problem, idk her budget.Just told me to get these:
#1)Motherboard
#2)Ram
#3)HDD
#4)Keyboard with cover
We just bought a brand new seasonic 300W atx12V 80+bronze cert psu
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151086
I want to get her good stuff, not beat around the bush getting her stuff that's going to crapout on her in a short period of time.
Here is what I cameup with.
MSI 970A-G43 AM3+,will her AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ work with it?Just want to double check.

G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231474
Seagate Barracuda ST500DM002 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5"
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148767
Is this a good combo?$155.97 total in the cart.
It needs a gpu, wich one of these 2 would be your choice?
ASUS 8400GS-SL-512MD3-L GeForce 8400 GS 512MB 32-bit
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121711
MSI N210-MD1G/D3 GeForce 210 1GB 64-bit
MSI N210-MD1G/D3 GeForce 210 1GB 64-bit
I figure a $5 difference getting 1gb 64b would be better & it matches brand of the motherboard, not that it matters but its nice lol.
$190.96 total with msi gpu.Hopefully this fits her budget.I will talk to her again in a bit.I believe this is a good combo.Good brands, decent price,& up to date mostly
I'm having trouble finding a keyboard that has dust covers available for them, anyone know any?

What's the point of doing this exactly? The CPU stays the same so performance won't be much better. If her computer is running slowly I'd say just reinstall Windows and maybe toss some more RAM in there. If you really wanted to make it snappy you could get an SSD. A new motherboard doesn't make any sense except for upping to DDR3 RAM.

Thanks for the reply denther.I should've included this, here is why.
First the psu died, replaced it with the seasonic 300w psu.
Works.Kept getting cmos checksum error.Figured the battery died.Put a brand new one in,getting cmos checksum error every boot still.I set date & enabled usb mouse, resets back every boot.
That is one reason. Also this computer is almost 7yrs old & has ran 24/7 over half it's life.
Before the psu quit working it would randomly freeze. It was perfectly clean(no viruses etc. & no programs besides malwarebytes, avast,& ccleaner). Was not running hot at all either, actually ran fairly cool.Imo everything is pointing to the mobo, gpu,& hdd.The clean windows 7 OS installed perfectly with no problem, used usb flash. So it wasn't the OS install.
So that is why.The hdd is as old as the pc,over 4 people on it saving & deleting files almost daily for about 7yrs.So the hdd will probably be on its last spin soon.

Save your time and just buy her something new off the shelf. If she's not doing anything which requires too much power, then 99% of the stuff off the shelf will work fine for her.

This system is really too old to be putting your time and money into.

Agreed. If all she's doing is internet, word processing, and the like, then a cheap prebuilt will do just fine.

Something like this would work.

I got a question. When I installed the seasonic psu I noticed the main mobo connector had a extra 4 pins. This psu has a on/off switch, old one didn't.Could this be causing the cmos problem?Their is a on/off switch in the front of the tower too.
I didn't want to start another thread just to ask this.It just came to me today & I got a itch to find out lol.

No that's not a problem. Newer and more power hungry systems have a 24 ATX connector rather than the older standard 20. That PSU just supports newer motherboards that needs the extra 4 pins. It won't cause any problems.
