gateway help

I have a friend whose gateway computer tries to open xp, but reboots every
time before xp fininshes loading. This began right after he downloaded
McAfee, and has been happening ever since...
I've been trying to open safe mode or even get into setup, but evidently don't
know what I'm doing... any ideas??????

Right before the XP boot screen appears, hold F8 and select to start with "Safe Mode" enabled. Then, log in as the administrator and try removing McAfee, or doing a system restore to before McAfee was installed.

Thanks... that did it! I wonder why McAfee would cause this... I do know this
is the first time he has had this machine online... maybe his system
was already corrupt... ended up going into safe mode and uninstalling.
Ultimately we just booted with the XP disk..
