I have this gateway laptop that after about 15 minutes or so, shuts itself down. Anybody have any idea what the problem could be? It is plugged in the entire time. Another thing worth mentioning: there seems to be an issue with the screen which loses its backlight every so often. I'm forced to use it with a monitor.

if you guys needs the specs, let me know. thanks.

That was my other thought too. but im honestly not too sure. i feel it and its warm but i mean it doesnt feel too extreme. definitely a possibility though.

Take a can of air and blow it through the fans and see how much dust is in there. You'd be surprised how much dust a laptop can accumulate over time.

alright im about 85% sure it is overheating. if i had a can of that air spray i would try it. but i guess i just have to pick some up the next time im out.

ok i got the air spray and sprayed the the laptop in and out. I opened it up and for some reason I couldn't access the fan. In fact I couldnt even find the fan. The pc wasnt built very well for someone that wanted to clean the fan out. Anyway, I sprayed it as much as I could and I think that actually did the trick but it still doesnt explain the screen which seems to flicker off. It obviously works but just not all the time. i dont understand.

it's a gateway w340Ui. there's also another sticker on the back of the computer that says the model is MT3707

btw, I've been doing some research and it seems that there is a problem with either my backlight or inverter. but im having some trouble deciding which it is. What i do know is that the backlight works upon boot up and shows the gateway logo but then as soon as windows vista loads up, the backlight is gone.
If i put the computer into sleep mode and then return back to my computer, the backlight is on for maybe a second or two and then is gone.
