I have a gateway m-series. AMD Turion 64 X2 Mobile Tech. I am having overheating problem after a while from being powered on it start getting hot but only when im using it wheather its light or heavy CPU usage. Then all of a sudden just shuts down. I have applied new thermal paste from Artic Silver 5, artic cooling mx 4-5, and COOLER MASTER IceFusion. None of them really helped much. Also one thing the cooling fan has a slow fast running rythem. If I leave the bottom cover and its idle the fan completely shuts down.

Well if you cover the bottom the fan is probably over heating, you have to understand that the fan is has a motor too that can overheat, the flow from the fan keeps that motor cool. I have also read that AMD CPU run a little hot anyway. Not to mention it is a gateway which is know to cut corners in things like fans for cooling and mother boards.
