Gateway Model NE58R41u will not run the media creation tool for win10

Gateway Model NE58R41u

S/N NXY1UAA0303170829F3400

Running Windows 7 Ultimate Service Pack 1 32 bit

I decided to upgrade it to Windows 10 but the media creation tool will not run on this computer.

I contacted Gateway and they said they did not manufacture this computer.

Any suggestions?

We need more information then just that it won't run it. Are there any error messages?

To be honest, unless it has an SSD and more ram (Original specs say 4gb ram) and its only a dual core cpu I wouldn't upgrade that to windows 10. It's actually time to buy a new one.

Gateway was bought out by Acer in 2007 and your laptop came out in 2013 so technically its made by Acer. This machine is 10 years old now and Windows 10 support ends in 2 years anyway.

I see you as an Admin to the forum.

Thank you for your service I have been there and found it to be a thankless job.

This computer belonged to a fellow that passed away and his sister has asked me to prepare it for his grandson.

For this reason I consider this computer to be a throw away after the kid has enough experience to appreciate one of the new ones like I purchased for my wife. It weighs less than the sandwich I ate for lunch has a SSD and is so fast she has a problem catching up to it.

I am working on more information for you all.

My opinion is this computer for the purpose it is intended for would better be running XP.

I will get back to you with the error codes after breakfast.

You could just burn the raw ISO.

What actual issue did you encounter when attempting to run media creation tool? Didn't seem to have many details so it would be impossible for a third party or vendor to assist.

Nothing is better running XP in 2023.
 
Yes John I been there as well no reasonable access to all the updates so XP is out of the question just a thought.

Found the issue.

The registry had to be edited to enable TLS

It is now downloading win 10.
