Buying a new Mid-range desktop later this week.
Haven't decided on whether to buy one off Gateway's web site, Velocity Micro's site, or just go to Best Buy and make the purchase.
I chose Gateway and Velocity for there customer service and quality of systems. Most reviews on them seem to be good.
I know you can customize if you buy from thier web sites, but that is the only advantage I see so far.
Gateway, Velocity, or Best Buy store?
Your opinions please.

To make your purchase, look at price, and compatibility on what you intend to use the system for, and then look at the warranty. I would recommend "BestBuys" since they are everywhere, basically. Unless you find a local system builder to help you... which can benefit you in many ways.

As support goes... here's what I suggest.

Best Buys if you like the neighboring service center... online with the other two will require you to ship back the unit if there is a problem. Of course, you would have to find a local computer person who can visit you whenever there is a problem in the future with the system.

Hope this helps!:)

I've never heard of Velocity Micro, but gateway seems to be better than they used to be. I currently own a gateway tablet pc that is relatively nice, there are a few issues, like they stylus i have kind of needs replaced but when i contacted tech support they were easy to deal with (online tech support) and helpful (possibly because they were trying to sell me a part). I'd go with gateway over best buy simply because best buy over charges for things. You might also look into dell, i'm definately a dell fan, still have an ancient Optiplex with a Pentium 1 133mhz processor (still works too). It even has slots for EDO ram (i think thats what it's called). Good luck.
