im working on rebuilding an Gateway G6-333c for a friend. she got a new system and wanted to transfer her pics to floppys and install Webroot Window Washer on the gateway. after doing so, whenever she boots up the PC, it comes and says, Error: Please re-insert the disk (or something like that). She told me to just try and put Win2000Pro on it so I tried, and when it got to 100% on formating the drive, it said an error had occured. so, i cannot get the cpu to boot, i only get that error message. i also get a message about the computer not being able to find a bios for the hdd. it says the hdd bios is not installed.

System Specs:
Gateway G6-333c
Intel Celeron 333mHz
Samsung CD-RW Combo Drive (new)
192MB RAM (128 and 64 just upgraded from 128)
Maxtor 40GB HDD (new)
Serial Number- 0012181823
Orignally Win98SE
im not sure about the mobo

Could you elaborate on the error? I know I've had problems with some CD ROM's reading certain disks(I make copies of my disks so I can scratch them :P )

You totally lost me on the BIOS part. That's all pre boot(POST) where the bios does it's job. Now you might have some settings in wrong seeing as you updated the HD...
