Hi guys!
I recently bought a computer with the following specs:
Windows XP pro service pack 2)
Intel 915GAV express motherboard
Pentium 4 3.0 GHZ with HT Technology

Astronics black case
Sony CD/DVD/writer combo drive
Seagate Baracuda 80GB 7200RPM HD
philips 1500W Bass reflex speakers(Own power cable)
Samsung syncmaster 793s 17" monitor(1280x1024x32 85 hz)
sony floppy drive
Logitech internet keyboard and laser mouse(Cool!!)
scorpio LC-B500E PSU with following specs:
AC/ I/P : 115V/230V, 10/5A, 60/50 hz
DC O/P : +3.3V :28A
+5V :50A
+12V :18A
-12V :1.0A
-5V :0.8A
+5VSB :2.5A
+5V and +3v combined load 230W
+5V,+3.3v & +12V combined load 422W
Total output 500W maximum.
3 fans(one for the mobo, one for the power supply & one extra fan taken
from another case apparently for cooling the gpu, fitted onto the case,
not onto the gpu(The gpu doesnt have a fan of its own!!).
And here's the entire dxdiag report:

Done with the specs!!
(Note: throughout this post, for every game played, i have set the
nvidia performance and quality settings to high quality with no
optimizations and i have used ONLY directx 9.0c and no vsync. I do run
Norton Antivirus autoprotect in the background though.)
PART1,THE PROBLEMS:
Now, the problem is with my graphics card.
I got my pc late at night so i tested only nfs ug and fifa 2004(for
five minutes) before going to bed.
The next day i got up and switched on the pc and ug ran fine with the
highest settings. But after an hour or two i started playing comanche 4
and THATS when this all started. I played for a few minutes(1280x1024x32
4xAA,8xAF) and everything was fine(framerate was good too) but after a
few minutes of explosions(cool!), i hear an EXTREMELY LOUD noise from the
extra fan installed by the guy who assembled my pc(from now on known as
"The Guy") and it keeps increasing. a few minutes after this the game
crashes and i get an error message like this:

I clicked on send error report and it just sends but it doesnt give any
extra info. And also while playing Fifa 2004 for more than 20 minutes,
the WHOLE SYSTEM CRASHES and on restarting i get the error message
entitled "Your system has just recovered from a serious error".(And oh
yes just before restarting i got a black screen for 1 second with
something about memory). So i clicked on send error report which pointed me
to a MS webpage where they said it was a problem with the drivers(I had forceware
66.81 at the time). So i downloaded version 71.89 and the fifa 2004
problem was solved(Thank God!!).
But suprise!suprise!. comanche 4 still crashes and gives the same error
(although at lower resolutions it takes longer to crash).
I start up Activision's spiderman and all i get is a black screen
for a second and then i get a similar error message to that of comanche
4!! Even NFS 5 at the highest settings ran well sometimes but sometimes
readily crashed(I alt-tabbed the game and it crashed instantly with the
same error message)I used fraps to see the framerate and at one time it
went down all the way to 10 fps!!(Maybe it has something to do with the
fact that i was racing along with 7 opponents, all of us having the
same ViperGTS car downloaded from nfscars.net(The geometry file along
with textures is about 8.4MB, so thats around 67.2mb of car geometry
data plus 5mb for the track geometry at any one time of the race)
Next i tried NFS ug and the thing is it ran fine at the highest settings
along with motion blur and light trails(about 30 fps)!!. Once i ran it
for about 5 hours continuously without a single problem( Of course the
fan was still rattling away LOUDLY and i mean LOUD!!)
So then i checked whether the card had a problem running games which
ran using earlier versions of directx but this myth was expelled when
i ran both cricket 2002 and f1 2002 for around 1 hour each and i had
no problems(Even while alt-tabbing). I next ran MotoGP2 at the highest
settings and boy was it cool!!!(Absolutely no problems!!).
PART2, What i tried and failed to do about them:
Well i first inspected the mobo installation cd and i found intel
desktop utilities, which also has hardware monitoring features.(I
wanted to check whether the CPU was getting over heated).
Next i enabled temperature monitoring for my gpu through the bios.
The next morning as soon as windows loaded, i checked the idle
temperature of the gpu and what do i get??

I played comanche 4 and it reached a peak of 69 degrees
celsius. After playing for sometime the game minimizes and i get a
warning from intel desktop utility saying "System zone 2 temperature
has exceeded the acceptable limit. The thing is, i can now maximise my
game and continue as if nothing happened!!(although i consistently
get warnings throughout the game). Apparently the errors(in part1) are
randomized and have nothing to do with the gpu temperature.( I said
APPARENTLY! If any of you think this is the case then youre welcome to
prove me wrong!!). Sometimes the games crash immediately and sometimes
they take around 30 minutes to crash. The funny part is when i
played f1 2002 the temperature touched 73C and when i played nfs ug it
didnt cross 69C.(All this was done while the card was overclocked by 150
mhz. I then underclocked it and tried all these games again with the
same results but with lower fps) Could it be a problem with SP2?
Or the card itself?(But i dont think so because i ran it on several high
end games including LOTR:WOTR and THE TITANS with no problems) Or is it
the PSU? Or the temperatures? Please help!!
Part3, possible problems to be resolved:
1)PSU(If this is the problem please suggest a good PSU)
2)Temperature (If so please suggest some good methods to cool not only
the Gcard but also the entire CPU. Anynthing around $60 or less is ok)
3)Service pack2
4)Memory conflict(if so please suggest what to do with clear instructions)
5)Defective card??!
Im just hoping its anything but choice 4.
Please reply as soon as possible.
Any help would be really appreciated.
Cheers!!
