geforce 6800 or 7800

hey im buying my pc and i was wondering should i get a MSI GeForce 6800 Ultra PCI-Express 256MB or a XFX GeForce 7800GT 256MB Extreme Edition PCI-Express both the same price but i duno what you lot think thanks
 
the ultra is better, and its about the same price... the 7800 came out just to put in a new pci-e card, nVidia is holding back, waiting for ATi to put out their new card... give it a month or so, nVidia will have their new crazy ass card out to beat the shit out of the new ATi card ;) trust me
 
SLI becomes a large factor only at higher resolutions. at lower resolutions, the increased heat can hinder performance
 
that cant be right how can a 7800gt out perform a 7800gtx sli imposible

Thats because you're under the false assumption that SLI is "all that" :) There's a lot of xbar overhead when dealing SLI so for CPU bound games, SLI wont do so well.

in doom 3 and other games it dosent

yes but the 7800 gtx is far better then the gt so its wrong

If you read your own post you'd notice that the question is between 6800U and 7800GT ... now unless you're reading 7800GTX where it says 7800GT.... then i really cant help you
