GeForce 9 series...better than 8?

Are the current 9600GT cards better than the 8800GT and 8800GTS? I guess the higher number has me thinking it should be, but the stream processors are much lower, although the clock speed can be higher.

Are these just the entry level cards in the 9 series?

The 8800GT is the better card. The 9600GT is a little closer to the 8800GS

Thanks guys. I guess maybe the 8800GT and 8800GTS are better because they've used some of the new 9 series technology. Probably when the 9700 and/or 9800 is released, *those* will be better.

Is the performance worth the money? $180 vs $275 almost $100 my budget will be saved.
Next month i'll getting the 8800gt that worth approx $275 but considering the 9600gt because of the price even though the performance is lower than the 8800gt.
Any suggestion?

lol who are you getting this from to pay 275 dollars for an 8800GT? you can get them for 240$ SHIPPED from newegg

Oww sorry forgot to mention, in my country theres a tax about 25-30 dollar (so the 9600gt cost about $210 after tax) for every electronic device.
So... Yeah its a bit expensive.

Well, now that I'm comparing the specs on Wikipedia, I'd say the 8800GT and 8800GTS are much better than the 9600GT. The only thing "better" about the 9600GT is that the core clock speed is slightly higher than the 8800GT, but that is negligible compared to the rest of the specs.

The 9800 series will probably be the improved versions of the 8800 series. Does anyone know anything about when the mid-range 9800 cards (GT, GTS) will come out, or any specs?
