GeForce graphics card requiring a PCI-E cable that I cannot find

I recently bought a new graphics card (Gigabyte GeForce GTX 750Ti) and after I put it into my computer I turned it on and it says to connect the PCI-E cable which I've never heard of because my old graphics card never required one. I looked around my motherboard to find the cable that connects into it but I couldn't find one, is this because my PCU is to old or is there a way to buy the cable and install it?
 
The cable is from the PSU, not the motherboard. What PSU do you have? Can you post a picture of all the cables coming out of it?
 
You basically install the card into your moherboard in an available pcie slot, and if it needs a power plug, (probably a 6 pin) connect that to the card--other end to power supply. (Some 750ti dont even require external power plug - the zotac mini 750ti for example)

It is possible you need to manually tell your motherboard you are using a dedicated GPU, and not the onboard (if you happened to not have have a dedicated card prior) sometimes you gotta change this manually.
 
If you have an ancient PSU without PCIE, you should probably replace it. If you dont want to spend more than $5 you can get molex to PCIE adapters from newegg. You will definitely have molex.

He just needs to buy a new PSU if he doesnt have the connectors. I don't recommend cheap molex adapters. Even a cheap CX430 would be fine.

Yeah, you really don't want to be using converter cables on a psu that doesn't have a pci express connector. Those cheap units will go pop quicker then anything.
 
Well the Gigabyte one doesnt. So, to the OP, reinsert the card and make sure it is seated properly along with the vga cable.
