I have both unopened. At one point I thought the FE was going to come with the same performance and better cooling based on reviews, but other people say the regular card has better performance. I can return one. Which should I go with?
No. It just has a better air cooler to keep the GPU operating at lower temps*.
*Unless you are planning to stick the card in a very small package case. In which case, a blower style cooler (the one on the founders edition) may be better for that purpose.
It is all a marketing scam people, they lately feel the need to market two of the same cards basically when they could double the performance and just make that one card. Who else agrees?
My fault, in other words what i meant to say is they feel the need to introduce two cards that are basically the same with a slight difference, non noticeable though basically as a marketing tactic. Am i wrong here?
No. He is saying the non founders edition comes with different cooling and generally has higher stable clock due to a more efficient cooler. Maximum OC is roughly the same in all cards (silicon lottery!) but the ability to maintain that clock is difficult when temps start to rise.
Nvidia decided to charge more for the reference card because it comes out first. So you pay a premium.
