General CPU Questions

Hey, I am looking into buying a new laptop. It is between an HP Envy 15 with a intel I7-2670QM 2.2GHz 6MB L3 Cache, turbo boost's to 3.1GHz. And the Sony Vaio S series with an intel I7-2640M 2.8GHz, turbo boost's to 3.4GHz.

Basically my question is which CPU is better, the quad-core with less GHz or a dual-core with more GHz. I will mostly be surfing the internet, but also doing graphic design and CAD, so which some would be better?

quad all the way man, what you want is heavily thread, so it knows how to use all the cores you give it, so it will work almost twice as good.
