general info on my ongoing AMD QuadFX setup

The motherboard that supports AMD FX74 is too expensive as well !!!

You can just get Intel P35 motherboard + Core 2 Quad Q6600, and that would cost you only 1/3 of the AMD setup

I don't see any reason for getting AMD FX74

yeah you completly tru there maroon1 on the q6600, at the time I ordered it seemed like a good idea, and may yet be too, but thats the way the computer industry is hey!

I bought this so I wouldnt have to do much in a few years time when its time to upgrade/buy again therefore lenthening its lifetime while still have me a very fast computer now too. Its for this reason I was looking for the 8 core upgradeability as by then I assume there will certainly be more use for it

also, I do a lot of AV work and gaming on my comps and they already are using all four cores

oh btw, unlike most of you, I consume 100% green power, coming from wind and hydro electric (among others)

So, you want to pay more that 2times the price and get a worse processor ?!!

On newegg

Intel P35 + Q6600 cost less than $400

SUS L1N64-SLi WS + two FX74 cost around $925

And the intel setup is not only cheaper but it is better as well

I was looking for the 8 core upgradeability as by then I assume there will certainly be more use for it
But when a native 8 cores comes out it will even be cheaper than the current AMD FX74 setup

So, you can use Q6600 and then buy a new mobo and upgrade to 8 cores when it comes out. It will still be cheaper that this whole AMD FX74 setup
