General protection fault module user.exe at 0001:4e73

Does anyone know what this means ( get this error when installing windows 98 on my pc)

I looked into the general fault part of the error message; I have subsequently changed my RAM, HARD DISK UNPLUGGED ALL THE PCI CARDS. I have only left connect to mother 1 cd rom a hard disk and floppy ( drive wise of course )

The system is not over heading from what I can tell.

Does anyone have any ideas why I might be getting this error message and how to solve it.

Did you try to reinstall windows 98? And is this an illegal copy of windows 98 or the real one.

its a real 98 cd.

was installing it on a blank hard disk.

have done checks on MB and Processor and they have tested to be fine.

any ideas ??
