I was moving my computer back a few inches, just as I did it I got this error:

then when I tried to boot up it said disk boot failure, please insert system disk. when its hooked up no hard drives show up in the BIOS at all. It boots into windows when I un hook the backup hard drive (the one with 250GB of stuff I really dont want to loose!) how can that one drive be messing up the other when its hooked up?.. I am using SATAII so there not tied together at all.. the main drive works on the other sata cable and power cable so thats not the problem.

Is there anything I can try to get this drive working again, its only like 4 months old. I got it from tiger with limited warenty but I will call and see if its under warenty anyway.. but first I would like to try to get it to work myself, if not somehow get the data onto a diffrent harddrive some how..

Thanks

update: I figures since it was sata I could try hooking it up once the computer is on, but it done nothing when I do that. nothing shows up (even in partition magic 8)

Well I can and its under warenty until december 2009, so thats a good.. I would still like to try to get it working to get my data back they said I will lose it all when I send it in.. Any advise?

Thanks

If you want to see if the disk is still working, download a Linux distribution such as GPartEd and see if it recognises your second HDD, it'll show up as sda1, the main drive will be sda0. You can download GPartEd from SourceForge.

EDIT: Be careful with GPartEd though as it's a partition editor and if you're not careful bye bye data!

lol.. I knew someone would link the two threads.. no I didnt put the hard drive in the oil.. lol.. I was opening the cover a little to let the oil cool down a little until my trans cooler gets here and the hard drive fell like 2 inches and rested on the cd drives.. I have a hard drive holder seen here:

but as you can see in this pic:

I took a short cut for the night and just set them there..shouldnt have done that!.. grr

thread jacker..lol.. come check it out over there

http://www.computerforum.com/90103-fish-tank-full-veggie-oil-computer.html (full pics on page 6)

but for a quick answer, at the moment there is no advantage cuz the oil just heated up to cpu temp.. but I ordered a fish tank pump that will circulate the oil 5-10 times per hours depending on how I adjust it.. then I will use 3/8inch tube to run it threw a universal transmision cool for a car (wich is just a small radiator) wich is 15 inches long and 5inches tall and 3/4inch thick, I will attach 3 - 6 four inch fans to it (3 on each side) and put it outside in winter, and infron of my AC in summer.. so it should be running nice and cold soon!

well.. there is no program that can help I dont think.. i cant get my computer to boot when that hard drive is hooked up.. I have a RA and its all packed up ready to be shipped tommorow..

Thanks for the help guys.. I got alot of downloaidn to do to get all my stuff back!.. good thing I have 30 meg internet..lol..
