i am going to buy a new flash drive...just wanna know which brand is good...

Sandisk, Kingston, Patriot or Sony....i really have no idea

any user feedbacks? or they are all the same

It doesnt really matter, they all work, my little freebie Gateway works fine. If you want something cool, then spend all you can, i guess.
Edit: and i think portable external HDDs are more bang for the buck, its what i use for the most part.

Something to consider is an MP3 player. I have a Sony 2G MP3 player. Though special software is required to write songs to it, it also works like a basic flash drive for any basic file(no software needed)

As for the hard drives, you do get more space, but you also get a much larger case and a much more fragile device. YOu can wash most flash drives and they'll keep working.

lol actually i was using my old 128mb mp3 player (plug and play) as a flash drive before....but it is broken thats why i am getting a new one ^^

hmm...yes external hdd is too big for me....

WASH @o@" you mean put in washing machine!!!???

Yes...dad's actually was washed. I told him to just not use it for a few days. After we were sure it was dry, it plugged it up and everything was still there. Try doing that with an extrenal HD! :P

Now I doubt an MP3 player would be that durable. Particually the battery could cause problems, shorting stuff out and all.

A normal generic flash drive is fine. As many pointed out, MP3 players are more expensive, and more fragile.

Any brand of flash drive works the same.

If you want cool lights etc go for the more expensive brands.

One thing people don't like about SanDisk and a few other brands is that they have some interface software hard-wired into the little thing that actually takes up some of the storage space of the flash drive. Memorex, Verbatim and some others don't have this, but those things are more or less the same...

oic  i went to sandisk official website last night and read something like "the flash drive has a built-in anti-virus software or something....", i believe those are the interface software that takes up the space...right!?

If there is a microcenter near you, they are selling an off brand usb2.0 1gig drive for $15.00, no limit on how many you can buy too. I bought two of them so far, and they are decent. I use one to boot a version of knoppix, and the other for just plain old data transfers.

$15.00 for 1g flash drive...i wish i could get that ~.~" but i dont live in the usa....thx anyway ^^

sandisk 1g flash drive (basic model) costs around $25 ish in my home town.....almost double price....just found out that i live in an experience city...damn lol
