getting a new rig is this fine for the next 4-5 years? Need advice

I was thinking should I get the 640MB version of the same graphics card or is this one okay? it will make the price go up by about £100 if i get the other one though.
Also is the processor ok? Was thinking of lowering it to a cheaper one :2 X 2.40GHz 2MB L2 Cache
Getting a network card to connect my cable modem to is pointless right? if the case already has one built in? Currently I use a network card but I dont think i'd need one for the setup above?
Anything else I need to know?
 
In 4-5 years from now that will all be obsolete, there is no need in convincing yourself otherwise. If you want to 'spend money to save money' computers do not work by that motto. Your best bet would be to spend your money on a decent case and motherboard and upgrade as you go. In 4-5 years your computer may be of some use but it most likely be obsolete no matter what you buy.
 
think of it this way....while that computer *could* easily still be used 5 years from now, it would be so slow compared to the computers that will be out on the market that you wont even want to use it. it wont be usable for any games that are out around that time. the only use you'll have for it will be to type stuff up.

i have a pc sitting on the floor next to me running game servers. its a 1ghz p3. it still runs fine even though its around 5 years old. while it was blazing fast when new, its extremely slow compared to modern computers. besides running small, low resource game servers, the only thing its really good for is stuff like word processing and e-mail checking.

Look at psu and cpu's five years ago and tell me how great they would be now...

Usable perhaps, but barely...
