getting an Drive Error?

hello all,

(If this is the wrong category, please move to appropriate one)

well, my PSU took a dump on me the other day, which was expected since it was a "come with case" model. I replaced it with a 600W supply that I think is great for my needs. Also, I put in a DVD burner when I swapped in the PSU as well.

Here is my dilemma, when I turn on the computer, it goes through the normal scans and finds the memory, my dvd rom, my cdrom, my two hard drives. Well, after it scans everything in the first black screen, I get a "Drive Error, press F1 to continue" error. Once I press F1, it boots up fine and everything is normal. All my drives work, and everything is peachy.

My question is what is that Drive Error and how do I fix it? I would appreciate any help you all can give me. Thank you.

Robert

the drive may be bad, but if it detects it in windows maybe its something about the BIOS. see if it will detect in BIOS

which drive is bad though? It detects all my drives and everything works fine. I checked my BIOS and everything is registered in there and everything seems to work fine. Is there a way to find out which drive it is? It doesn't specify a drive.

thank you for your help

Robert

I have seen this issue alot, its not a bad drive, your bios is seeing your new DVD and needs to be saved. next time you get this enter your Cmos setup dont change anything , just exit and save.

try and error, try one drive, then add one, and another one. when ya get the error again ya hit pay dirt. another way is just plugging em in one by one

Do you have a floppy drive, if you do you might have knocked the cable or power plug loose. If you dont have a floppy go into the bios and make sure the floppy port is disabled.

Thank you Stronghold, that was excellent advice and now the problem is solved. All I had to do was disable my non-existent Floppy. THANK YOU!

I consider this matter closed and again, thank you to all who tried to help.
