Getting Geforce 6800's to encode MPeg 1/2/4

Is there any way to divert mpeg encoding tasks away from the cpu and to the in-built nv4x encoder in my Geforce 6800 Ultra?

I've read somewhere you need a seperate bit of software, but I'm not convinced. At the moment I'm encoding mpeg 2 video daily and my cpu's always at 100%. On the tech specs it's certainly a feature, but it doesn't seem to be one that's activated by default.

I wanna get some real gpu juices flowing :D

I don't think it has enough power to really allieviate the CPU load but right from the article...
In the case of MPEG 1/2/4 encoding, however, special software is required

I heard adobe's new video program is supposed to make use of it, it may not be out yet. I haven't heard of any others though

1. The video thingy doesnt apply to NV40
2. It is, for all intents and purposes, a decoder rather than an encoder
3. Encoding is CPU bound rather than GPU bound

Convince yourself. Movies done just encode themselves out of the blue

Get used to it, like I said, its quite CPU intensive

Any idea on the software?
TMPGEnc is easy (and has a free version) and lots of help is available. If you want to get serious, you can have a look at CCE :)
