Well I've been looking for a new laptop for a while noww and since the beginning, my thoughts haven't changed on the laptop I want: The HP Pavilion dv9000t. I've customized the exact model I want on HP and the price seems very reasonable for such a powerful computer. Here are the specs I'm thinking of getting:

Operating System Genuine Windows XP Professional
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo processor T7200 (2.0 GHz)
Display 17.0" WXGA+ Ultra BrightView Widescreen (1440x900)
Graphics Card 512MB NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) Go 7600
Memory 2.0GB DDR2 SDRAM (2x1024MB)
Hard Drive 100 GB 7200 RPM SATA Hard Drive

$2,031.99 is the price that comes out to.

From what I've seen, thats the best possible laptop I can get for that price. basically what I want is a fast laptop to use as an all around computer... I will do some gaming on it (not a ton) so I want to make sure this is going to be a solid gaming laptop. Unlike the Dell XPS, this is titled more as a "multimedia" laptop and I haven't heard much about it in terms of it's gaming ability... I'm just going by what I can see from the specs and all of them are better than my friends Dell XPS... I think. His processor is a Intel Pentium M 2.3 GHz and I'm wondering how that compares to the Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0 GHz I got on this laptop. Any feedback will be much appreciated... thanks guys.

Your core 2 Duo @ 2GHz should be better than his Pentium M easily. Looks like a solid machine, but look for any coupons or rebate specials HP may have to offer. I know you can find something.

Ok good to here. I'm expected a huge upgrade from my current laptop which is awful compared to this one...

XP home
3.2 GHz Pentium 4
512 MB RAM
32 MB Video Card
60 GB Har drive
333 MHz clck speed

Ah it's not too bad (your current), just not much of a gaming machine. Neither is mine due to the graphics card and low RAM...but I don't play new games so it's all good :)

Ya I know everyones enving my 32 mb video card! But thats not really the only reason I need a new, it's just all around a bit to slow for me. I really could have used a gig of ram instead of 512 and I wouldn't probably be needing another laptop for another year.
