getting new laptop, Intel or AMD

I am helping my sister buy a laptop for work because her last one got stolen. I have been trying to convince her to get a desktop. Anyways, she has some different HP laptops picked out. Some are AMD Turion 64 X2 and others are Intel Core 2 Duo. Which one would be better? I have always heard that Intel's are faster but I really don't know for sure. She will not be doing any gaming, just using it for her work.

Overall the Core 2 Duo would be better, but it also depends on the price difference, and what the other specs are.

Core 2 Duo is a lot better than the Turion, AMD is suffering because of the lack of mobility and power of their Turion. Core 2 Duo will extend your battery life and give you some more speed.

lack of mobility??? it's just a difference of 15nm :P. The weight difference won't matter anyway. Core 2 duo is indeed more power efficient and offers more speeds than the turion. But the turion is cheaper (gets warmer to). Depends on what your budget is. I would go for the Core 2 Duo

i would say if u cant get a core 2 duo then go for an acer laptop...they use amds and work really well...our school just bought like 100 of them for student use in class and they are only the mid-range but they work really well..nice screen too :D

Mobility meaning that you can be mobile and have more battery power. I repeated myself twice in that post.
