I'm trying to get rid of the dual boot. I formatted both drives but then even though it is empty it says it is an os drive.. how do I get rid of it so that I can use that space to be added into another partition.. or use it to store files.

Thanks

If you are running XP you would simply edit the additional entry for the version or OS formerly seen on the second drive in the boot.ini file found at the root the current XP primary. You simply right click and uncheck the "read only" box in the properties and after open it up with NotePad or double click on the file to see it opened by NotePad anyways.

In Vista you can use the BCD editor or a free tool available called EasyBCD for seeing the entry removed. http://neosmart.net/dl.php?id=1 with documentation seen at http://neosmart.net/wiki/display/EBCD/EasyBCD+Documentation+Home

Evidently when reformatting to remove one OS you forgot the entry still seen in the boot loader for the version of Windows you are running.
