hi,
i can't get any sound of this new intel mother board D975xbx2,
all the sound options are grey, in fact the is no sound device detected, i guess it is a common problem which i've read in some webs, some adviced me download the kb901105.exe , which i did and it still don't work, i've checked the BIOS which the audio was off, it made me TOO happy , i said yeah i found it,it was disabled! i just enabled it, but NOTHING HAPPEND again , still no audio device has detected,
(i use windows xp 64 bit 2003 edition, cpu quad Q6600)
should i re-install windows? (cos when i install windows the audio in the BIOS was disabled,)
Help !!

yes, i got the latest version from the intel sites but it do not work ,
besides the intel driver cd which was in the mother board pack , i put it in the cd rom , it has 4 or 5 options , that one is "intel audio studio", all the 4 other choices "suceed to install" but the audio one "fails" , and the system still do not detect any audio devices, i've got these in the device manager :

Audio Codecs
Legacy Audio Drivers
Legacy Video Capture Devices
Media Control Devices
Video Codecs

try this : remove the audio hardware, and insert the sound card into another slot and reinstall it. hav u checked if the sound card is supported by XP>

64 bit drivers? where can i get that?
i do have audio sigmatel which is in the intel site that is the latest version of this driver,
i guess i should re-install the windows, for the 3rd time !

no don't reinstall windows!!! what version of windows are you running, it might not be vista compliant drivers or you might be running xp/vista 64 bit edition in which case the 32 bit drivers would not work!

(your computer is similar to mine, with 4 gb ram and cpu quad q 6600 , what windows do you use? 64 bit or 32 ? it is just a personal question, i don't want to cut the audio subject)

i've get this file, it won't work!!!
i guess first a system recognize something , then we install the driver, this pc shows (in the control panel , sound option) everything grey. which means the windows hasn't recognize anything!
