ok, so i'm going to build a pc. so, i'm starting with the processor. i'd like to get into pc gaming, and have pretty good overall performance. so can i get suggestions of a good processor of no more than $200?

well we would need to know your mobo model to do that. assuming you have an intel 775 socket i would say an E6750 right at 200.

well, that's the thing. i thought it would be better to buy a motherboard to fit the cpu rather then the other way around. that gives me a much bigger selection of cpus. but i'm really likng the E6750

Are you planning on buying a little at a time? if so don't the prices are always dropping, if anything the cpu is the last thing you would want to get.

it will be all at once. but, i wanted a good processor, then a mobo that it will fit in then the case, and then the other stuff.

ok, so now i have my processor picked out (E670) what is a good mother board to go with it? after that, i can find a case, HD, RAM, and the likes with no problem. thatnks for the help, by the way.

oh, sorry, that completely went over my head. thanks.

EDIT: not to sound like a complete noob....but what do you mean by sli and non-sli?

Sli: running TWO video cards at once, but can run one card on a sli board
non-sli: only one card

It happens to the best of us :P

Need help with anything else? what do you have in mind? (ie: budget, gaming, os ect?)

One thing, don't cheap out on a PSU. I would get something like a Corsair or OCZ brand psu.

hmm, budget, i wanted to keep it under 600, but i think, i'm just gonna bump it up to about 800-1000. psu, thanks for the advice, i've seen what a cheap one can do. what would you suggest for the motherboard, specifically? like would you prefer sli or non-sli?

EDIT:i've found this, and i think it may do well, what do you think?

that's good, i chose a slightly more expensive one. sincewe are talking about mobos now, i decided i'd go ahead and make another thread so i could ask for suggestions about the rest of the parts.
