getting stickers off your case

I'm selling my case but don't want to sell it with stickers on. I have core2duo, arctic cooling, corsair and asus stickers on that came with components, processor, heatsink, PSU and mobo.

Is there a way of getting the stickers off without scratching/leaveing a mark on the case so i can sell it as in good condition still?

Use a citrus acid based solvent to dissolve the adhesive then use a plastic stick to scrape them off.

I have used goobgone in the past and it has worked but at my current work we have some more industrial strength stuff and it works totally awesome. I can't think of what it is called but it is definitely citrus based because you can smell it when you use it.

I label a lot of computers and servers with address label stickers. I use that stuff to remove them when I need to remove it. Works great and if you use plastic stick to remove it, no scratches.

lighter fluid is a good cheap way to remove the glue under the stickers and it evapourates quickly too.

That is also flammable though. I guess even rubbing alcohol is flammable though. I recommend the citrus based stuff, it is non corrosive, cheap and gets the job done.

If you use alcohol based just don't smoke around the case when you clean it up:eek:

@ Tlarkin :-well I was going to state the obvious about it being flammable, but I was hoping the OP would have enough savvy not to light his favourite brand up in front of his pc;)

i do want to keep the stickers but i had little strips of the same double sided adhesive to put them on another case.

And this may sound stupid, but sounds a little logical too, rather than forking out a couple £ on special citrus cleaner, can i not just juice a lemon or lime or something :P:P ?

Well you could, but the citrus acid based adhesive remover has a few more chemical compounds to help remove the stickiness.

hmm okey pokey then, i will have a look into it, thankyou very much everyone ^^

oh, last one, will the cleaner do anything do the plastic the stickers are stuck to?

Well just peel the sticker off and if there is goo left behind use a pencil eraser, if the eraser doesn't work WD40 will. In fact, WD40 will remove paper stickers as well. I've removed all the stickers from my laptop with WD40 and an eraser.

If the stickers are just paper stickers then yeah, WD40 would dissolve them. If the stickers are plastic then peel them off with a sharp edge (knife or razor works) and clean the sticky goo off with WD40 or an eraser.

so if they are the ones that you generally get with parts, so the foil/plasticy material with sticky on the back it will do nothing to them?

if its a solvent(petroleum), you'll probably end up screwing up the plastic and removing all the ink lol(i used alchohol once) and i was pretty much just left with a metal sticker :S

As a test, I just prayed some WD40 on my Intel sticker with no ink/sticker damage. Your stickers will be fine.

ok i will try the wd40 aproach, now to go dig it out from somewhere in the garage -.-

thankyou for the help everone;)
