Ghosting the drove on Windows XP- PLEASE READ!!

Hello. :D

I need to make a ghost of my current drive because I'm doing a re-format and I may need to reinstall the old copy if anything goes wrong. I have a few questions though.

1. Which is the best (and easiest to use) free ghosting program?

2. I've been told I will need to save the copy of the drive to some form of portable media, what is classed as "portable media" and how do I save the drive?

3. If anything did go wrong and had to reinstall the ghost drive how do I do it? Bear in mind I need simple instructions, I'm a complete tech novice.

Any help much appreciated. :)

1. norton offers a ghosting software, might be avalable with trial version.

2. cd, dvd, hard drive...

3. You would need another computer with the norton program installed to make the ghost file work again...

What version of windows do you plan on installing?
