Gigabit Ethernet Card?

I have a quick question, how do I know if I will benefit from a gigabit ethernet card or not? Is there a way to tell? I have Comcast so if that helps.

Also, why do they range so much in price? On Newegg they range from $10 to several hundreds.

You probably won't unless you have an insanely fast ISP or do a lot of sharing over your network... With a gigabit card it should theoretically have a throughput of 125MB/sec , assuming you have a gigabit router... and even then it will only help you locally, as I don't think any residential ISP will give you speeds even over 5MB/sec

No, getting a gigabit network card will probably not benefit in internet speed. It will benefit you in transfer speeds between computer in your home network if your router supports gigabit.

As for the price range, probably any network card will do for you.
